The Long Term Care Finance Association (LTCFA) is a voluntary membership association of individuals within the long term health care industry. Individuals eligible for membership include any person who demonstrates an interest in long term care financial management including without limitation, facility administrators, financial officers, accountants and bookkeepers as well as government officials, attorneys, consultants and bankers.

  Program Description:
  By utilizing the knowledge and expertise of our presenters, the participants will gain an understanding of the most current methods and procedures used by MassHealth in processing long term care applications. Participants will learn how to get patients coded for payment, and how MassHealth instructs providers to handle MCOS. With numerous changes in the long term care environment, it can be very difficult to obtain payment in a timely manner. This session will teach participants the best practices from MassHealth's perspective on having a long term care application approved in timely manner. [ More Info ]

Increase in the number of Medical Leave of Absence Days:
  Dear Nursing Facility Provider:
  Effective September 1, 2014, the number of allowable Medical Leave of Absence Days, also known as Bed Hold Days, will increase to 20 days.
  Currently, per regulation 130 CMR 456.425, up to ten (10) Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA) days are allowed per an acute hospital stay. Effective September 1, 2014, up to 20 MLOA days will be allowed per an acute hospital stay.
  All other policy provisions consistent with regulation 130 CMR 456.400 will remain in effect. The payment rate for MLOA days will remain at $80.10 per day. A provider bulletin on this change in allowed MLOA days will be issued at a later date.
